Full Headline: ‘Take her out’: recording appears to capture Trump at private dinner saying he wants Ukraine ambassador fired

Trump apparently heard discussing firing Ukraine ambassador Marie Yovanovitch.

A recording reviewed by ABC News appears to capture President Donald Trump telling associates he wanted the then U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch fired – and speaking at a small gathering that included Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman -- two former business associates of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani who have since been indicted in New York.

The recording appears to contradict statements by President Trump and support the narrative that has been offered by Parnas during broadcast interviews in recent days. Sources familiar with the recording said the recording was made during an intimate April 30, 2018 dinner at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Trump has said repeatedly he does not know Parnas, a Soviet-born American who has emerged as a wild card in Trump’s impeachment trial, especially in the days since Trump was impeached.

"Get rid of her!" is what the voice that appears to be President Trump’s is heard saying. "Get her out tomorrow. I don't care. Get her out tomorrow. Take her out. Okay? Do it."

On the recording, it appears the two Giuliani associates are telling President Trump that the U.S. ambassador has been bad-mouthing him, which leads directly to the apparent remarks by the President. The recording was made by Fruman according to sources familiar with the tape. The White House did not respond to an ABC News request for comment.

During the conversation, several of the participants can be heard laughing with the President. At another point, the recording appears to capture Trump praising his new choice of Secretary of State, saying emphatically: “Pompeo is the best.” But the most striking moment comes when Parnas and the President discuss the dismissal of his ambassador to Ukraine.

Parnas appears to say: "The biggest problem there, I think where we need to start is we gotta get rid of the ambassador. She's still left over from the Clinton administration," Parnas can be heard telling Trump. "She's basically walking around telling everybody 'Wait, he's gonna get impeached, just wait," he said. (Yovanovitch actually had served in the State Department since the Reagan Administration.)

Trump has said over and over he doesn't know these guys. He took a couple of pictures with them and that's it, he doesn't know them. This recording blows that up. Why do you think Trump would be so very insistent that he didn't know these guys?

A recording reviewed by ABC News appears to capture President Donald Trump telling associates he wanted the then U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch fired – and speaking at a small gathering that included Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman -- two former business associates of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani who have since been indicted in New York.

Frankly, I think he's still too far too cowardly and rightfully afraid of consequences to directly order a murder. We do see that hanging with criminals could lead him into involvement with murder, very likely even hypocritically to encourage murder -- as long as he believed he had that safe, yapping-dog distance from danger he always insists on.

He is seeking the power he needs to be safe.

that he thinks he can get away with it.

That’s been his whole pattern of behavior, over his entire life. Whatever he can get away with.

And so far has a behavior has never been checked. He’s never had to pay for anything. By “pay” I mean - face real consequences.

He probably never got a spanking when he was a kid.

He probably never flunked out and had to repeat a grade in school because of lousy grades.

He’s never been held accountable for literally mishandling women.

Yeah he’s been sued. So he has it dragged out 50 different ways from Sunday to where his opponent runs out of money and gives up. Or he countersues and otherwise peppers his opponent with nuisance legal maneuvering so the opponent gives up (knowing they don’t have the deep pockets to fight down 100 different and random rabbit holes.

He learned - maybe from Roy Cohn, or somebody else like that - how to be so slippery that nobody can lay a hand on him, and keep it on him.

And we’re all witnessing the results of that sneaky, duplicitous behavior track - of gaming the system AND GETTING AWAY WITH IT - over a lifetime that’s 70-some-odd years. There never have been consequences that REALLY hurt, OR held, in this individual.

I’m frankly amazed the impeachment held.

And just watch: when (I assume) the Senate fails to convict, watch how he spins it. Suddenly, doubt will be cast on whether he EVER ACTUALLY WAS impeached. Just watch. This guy’s pattern throughout his long life has been to gum up the works, lie, distort, cheat, obfuscate, confuse, bob ‘n’ weave, and muddy the waters. So why would he let this one stand?

And now he’s got himself one hell of an “amen chorus” from the wall-to-wall sycophants in the Senate and House and at the state level, the evangelical contingent, and fake media like Pox Noise and Breitbart and hate radio to carry the bull for him and repeat the memes and frames and talking points and lies to help with the whitewash and the snow job. Watch the new language, the antics with semantics, to try to make you think it really didn’t happen. That impeachment didn’t really happen.

Watch not just WHAT they say but HOW they say it. “The attempted (aborted/unsuccessful/failed/unreasonable/mean-spirited/illogical/purported/fake/unreasonable/conspiracy-driven/wrong-headed/so-called/alleged/irrational/liberal-led/unconscionable/made-up/phony/unfounded/illegal/unconstitutional/irrational/outrageous/illegitimate - and his own personal favorite - UNFAIR!!!) impeachment.

Just watch the Language Games to come. They’ll be “going for the gold”. (In more ways than one.)

But consequences of that are still feared in a way that other means of massive corruption and subversion aren't. As you say, they can usually get away with those.

So agree with that last. He will put the very worst interpretation on it. I just hope he's not so afraid of November 3 that fear forces him to behave most of the time. People need to see Real Donald Trump emboldened.
