Keep in mind that roughly 100-million people don't vote. They are like a silent, third party and they tend to be more progressive in their views, but have various reasons for not participating.

Beto almost beat Cruz in Texas. Imagine if 200k more angry Democrats would have made their way to the polls? Then look at all the seats Texas did flip blue. 2018 Blue wave will continue with GOTV and moderates voting for the Dems again!! There will be a lot less Dems who stay home or throw their vote away this year (because Hillary in a landslide and all) AND a lot of independent and never trump GOP's that will either not vote for Trump this time (net 1 vote) or will even vote for the Dem (net 2 votes!!)
