Seriously, I urge Democrats with blood pressure problems not to watch or listen to

the lie-fest now taking place in the Senate. Your health is more important than participating in the outrage in real time. And, we need you.

I don't have blood pressure problems, but turned it off after 2 minutes because of a stomach problem--- I thought I was about to "hurl chunks".

I know the faithful can’t be swayed. But anybody else watching this. Anybody with a shred of intelligence, decency, and sense of fair play who looks at this is going to come down on our side.

I think the reason I’m a little upbeat is that I’ve been watching the Democratic Party shoot itself in the foot repeatedly ever since Reagan, when it seemed to me that if they just avoided doing that, we could have been so much more successful over the preceding 30 years.

This has not happened here. Schiff has been the standout prosecutor and all of the democratic house members have done well, but they’ve done stunning, stellar work, when compared with their shouters across the aisle.

I could feel my stomach churning and my blood pressure rising and I want to have a nice Saturday

We will hear the highlights and summary eventually.

What matters now is that the House managers have a response team that are getting out to the media with corrections to fact and that that in 4 days there will be the debate and vote for witnesses and documents.

I recommend everyone spend their time preparing for that and what is coming and take care of being healthy and strong.

I personally wish there could be massage tables set up for the House managers and legal teams and healthy pressed juices and nourishment for them in the next week so they are strong and ready for what they have to deal with.

Prepare your action list for the 2020 election and begin actions:

# 1. Verify that you are registered on the voter's roll of your current congressional district. Important for those of us who moved into another congressional district since the 2018 election. Changes like that create opportunities for mischief by Repugs with access to the voter data base -- your data could have been corrupted or deleted.
# 2. Begin monthly donations to your DEM governor candidate.
etc.

You just confirmed what I knew would be happening - lie-a-second-athon and I absolutely can't take it. Was getting really stressed during the inital statements because not one damn thing they said was true - I mean every word of it was a lie. Watched maybe 5 min and that was it, my screaming did nothing but hurt my throat and raise my bloodpressure & stress levels - so turned it off. I feel a little hypocritical since I was so strong in urging everyone to watch the trial & learn stuff, but there's a huge difference. OUr case is fact based and theirs is fabrications, twists of the actual truth and defamations & degradations of the constitution so I will not deign to give him any of my time.

Just wonder if next week the trial will also start at 1 or since it's the dotard, they will start earlier - which will be yet another cheat by the worst person to ever steal office in this country.

I will turn the tv back on when it's question time, although I might have to turn it off during Cruz and other of the worst idiots time?

I can handle it with the outlet that is live posting on DU during these impeachment trial* proceedings - BUT, that is me.

I have been encouraging engagement in the live threads, but that’s just one niche of engagement in all of this.

It's evident they have no intention of doing what's right and no interest in truth.
Schiff's words fell on deaf ears.
It all go back to the old saying, "No one is so blind as he who will not see, and no one is so deaf as he who will not hear."

The Republicans have always been a bit on the dumb side, mentally, but not vocally.
And, they certainly have selective sight and hearing.

They are a lost cause as far as doing what is right and true.
I only hope the nation can survive the Trump shit show.

Sat Jan 25, 2020, 06:25 PM
Jan 2020

I woke up, listened for a minute or two, fell asleep, then woke up again when they were wrapping up. So, I missed most of it.

The only thing thing I got was twisted logic, mostly regarding the omission of some part of someone's answer that the Repubs claim means something, when the part was irrelevant and probably cut because of the artificial time constraints the Repubs put on the Dems.

Also, trying to persuade us that Trump didn't go somewhere because he wanted to stay home and monitor a hurricane--gawd, everyone knows that Trump doesn't go places that are dangerous--he made Pence go, although I didn't fact check that, and don't know if that is also a lie. Point is, no one is going to believe that.

And, that last guy was speaking like he was half awake. Schiff is a dynamic speaker, impassioned in his defense of our Democracy, and occasionally repeated an emphasis phrase for the emotion of it. This last Repub just kept repeating phrases so that he was saying everything twice. It was weird.

I believe that we should watch, so we know if they have anything. I don't expect to hear anything we don't already think they will say. I would hope that Trump gets agitated over the two tapes and orders them to say something dumb. Is there not a question and answer period we get?
