We should brace ourselves. If it becomes certain that the Republicans will defeat a vote

to have witnesses or more evidence, then Schumer could make a tactical decision to let a couple of vulnerable Democrats -- like Doug Jones and Joe Manchin -- vote with them.

It is more important to keep them in the Senate than whether we lose with 47 votes or only 45. Their presence is critical for us to have a chance of obtaining a majority in the Senate and knocking out Mitch McConnell from leadership.

In other words, if Trump is re-elected because he stole the election, but we take the Senate by a small majority, that small majority is what could save us.

The next time the House voted to impeach him, the Senate, led by the Democrats, would vote to conduct a real trial. And the Senate would take him out.

They do act like battered spouses.

Sad, because right now, they actually have the power to end the abuse.

However when a vast majority of the people you represent want you to vote the other way, as their representative, you need to listen. You then gave to decide if your vote represents what your constituents want or what you personally want. I'm glad it's not my decision.

It's about the Republican senators.

Classic Misdirection strategy because the democrats know that the Republicans will acquit him.

The 2020 election is the goal.

This isn't a political game, playing to win the next round.

This is for the survival of Western Democracy. AND ANY FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT that votes against it need to be taken out.

REP/DEM/INDIE

Your post is the exact reason why we lose, let's make sure not to upset too many!

FUCK THAT!!!! You want to live under fascism, keep taking your suggested approach. You know why they think they can get away with it and call Dems snowflakes?

You want them to claim that it was a bipartisan vote!!

This appeasement shit has got to fucking stop.

Because some of us will end up in Prison or DEAD while the other liberals sit pontificate on the next move.

Jones is a historical anomaly and will lose next year regardless of his vote.

Manchin should do the right thing; he was just re-elected in a state that won't remember jack shit about 2020 in 2024 (when he'll be 75+). They can't even remember what side their bread is buttered on (the Union side).
