Today I felt like I was in the beer garden scene of "Cabaret" - SHITLER sales at the flea market

Last edited Sun Jan 26, 2020, 01:21 AM - Edit history (1)

It's a flea market, specialized to retirees from the colder parts, lots of ex-military. Over the past 30 years have gone there about every 2-3 years once or twice per those years.

Was there last month and was zapped at the sight of *one* vendor's post that featured decorated mailboxes, one with a " (SHITLER) 2020" motif. I had the inward wretching gagging sensation and skipped on by.

But today, not only were there now MANY vendors with SHITLER crap, especially the red caps, but also many in the crowd wearing the damned caps. One a-hole had a little group around him, preaching crap about "the Democrats." As I approached, to pass them by, he and I locked eyes as though we have radar on *ENEMY*.

It was like the swasticas in Cabaret.

Bought me a tee shirt with a picture of William Tecumseh Sherman on it. If the guy selling confederate flags ask, I'll tell him it a picture of the greatest republican general that ever lived.

I'm guessing from your comment that you and I have clashed, and so I'll make a blanket apology for any insult or harm or negative thing I've ever done, or said, or thrown in your direction.

I know that I frequently get into it with other DUers, but I almost never pay attention to who the poster was I disagreed with.

In any case, I'm glad I could post something you appreciate.

Those beautiful boys with their beautiful voices turn out to be Nazi Youth. Great film making. I like the last scene where you see the mirrors in portions and pieces and then you can see the Nazi SS armbands on the men in the audience when the pieces come together.

Who was it, FOSSE, who said about Liza that she was just bursting to BURST but this is what did it.

It's so sad that we get old and get mocked being old.

I understand that in the original Broadway version of Cabaret, that this song was song in shorter versions at various points during the play. I expect that had an equally powerful, if different, impact.

No vendors. One guy tried to make a couple food vendors also sell his Rump 2020 gear, and the vendors just laughed at him.

You may have a legit groundswell in favor of him, there, or maybe it's non-organic, astroturf. The repugs always have money to fake a populist backing.

My impression is the guy you locked eyes with is the guy who threw this, they have to listen and pay attention to him preach, and he's not paying attention to them, but looking around to see the effect he's having, at large.
