"Seek shelter"
We are still advised to take cover in Union III, just across the road from the #US embassy in Green Zone #Baghdad. A few rockets allegedly hit nearby.
I didn't hear any explosions as we were in hard cover.

Just want to emphasize this is a rocket attack (likely Katyushas) and not a missle attack. Probably PMF or Kata'ib Hezbollah reminding us they're still not over the Soleimani assassination.

(34,136 posts)She spent a couple of years in Baghdad, helping refugees.
She doesn't like the safe positions - before Baghdad, she spent time in Afghanistan, after she was in Turkey working with Syrian refugees. Then she went to Cox's Bazaar, Bangladesh, helping refugees from Myanmar, on to Ukraine. Now, she is a MUCH safer place, working out of Prague, Czech Republic.

(90,347 posts)When Sadr pulled out it gave the government a greenlight to crack down on the Shi'ites. They weren't protesting us so much as government corruption and Iranian influence.
In other words, however hard it might be to accept, "not us."
Some want us out. Some don't. After you get past that, it depends where you are and whether you count heads or decibels.

(12,660 posts)Quite a few Iraqis want to get rid of the US thumb supporting just one group of tribes over others.
After all, tribalism is pretty much the primary issue behind the instability in the middle East.
