(7,358 posts)I just think it would be way more efficient to point out things the Dem party is actually doing wrong in order to effect that change.

(787 posts)When Senator Sanders (I-VT) decides to commit to the Democratic Party... Well I'll leave the rest up to your imagination. So far he only "caucuses with the Democrats."
The Democratic party does not need to change, our public leaders, Pelosi and Schumer, are doing a great job.
I don't like how Sanders supporters are trying to "tea party" the Democratic Party from the left. We are a united big tent Party.

(25,981 posts)When news becomes infotainment, this is exactly who and what they are: actors, playing their parts. After an appearance, they collect their paychecks and move on, their personal lives relatively unruffled by the effects of their roles they are playacting. It's all in day's work.

(869 posts)they know that "We the People" are largely morons so they deal with us in a way that we understand: reality television programming.
They probably threw out at more fine food from this event than what lots of people get to eat in 3 months.
And these folks aren't sitting up there eating beans and rice.

(171,070 posts)The club was formed by four southerners in the Willard Hotel to celebrate the birthday of Confederate Civil War General Robert E. Lee. It began admitting blacks in 1974 and women in 1994.[2] In 2009, President Barack Obama spoke at the club's annual dinner, saying, "This dinner began almost one hundred years ago as a way to celebrate the birthday of General Robert E. Lee. If he were here with us tonight, the General would be 202 years old. And very confused."[9]
The club was named in reference to the alfalfa plant's supposed willingness to "do anything for a drink."[2]

(33,355 posts)There is still a free (as in unfettered), informative, investigative press. It just seems like the agenda-pushing press is bigger and the financial ties more obfuscated than before.
I think we need some media companies broken into smaller pieces to restore some competition.

(36,095 posts)It's hard to tell who are the palace/corporate criers of narratives, and who are the journalists of transparent reality.
We think we can, but when you look around you see that most people can't or don't want to know any reports of reality. Just snippets of a hint of rules or a plan or system outside our public arena.
And now a fifth estate is nudging in. The "alternative" media...

Unlike pro wrestling, the marks who follow DC politics still think the shit is real.

(6,011 posts)It's a "scene". The DC "scene". People go where they are invited.
I suppose that in politics, like other arenas, people work on "making the scene".
I get invited to a lot of parties connected to the Chicago music "scene".
I go to parties where I can't stand half of the people there, yet love the other half.
I go to be with the half that I love.
