The Republicans in congress fear Trump and their base because Trump can end their careers with a tweet, I get that. This does not explain why they are literally risking everything by not removing Trump. If you live in fear of Trump why would you want to serve for many more years as his puppet. There is more to this that meets the eye.
Many so called moderate Republicans do not like Trump. Democrats in Congress have told us so. Some of them secretly may hope Trump loses the election. They see this as a better option than impeachment.
You have tea party Republicans in congress who love Trump. They love the fact that Trump is a fucking asshole because they are fucking assholes. They will not impeach Trump.
Then you have Republicans in congress who are involved in Trumps corruption. Many Republicans were involved in the Russia conspiracy and cover up.
Now you have many Republicans involved in the Ukraine scandal. These corrupt Republicans believe the best way to protect themselves is to protect Trump. This way they can block the truth from being investigated.
I believe some Republicans see Trump as a useful idiot. They know Trump is extremely ignorant, easily swayed. You will see these Republicans golfing with Trump. They believe Trump will give them what they want and they believe they can keep him under control. These Republicans are very foolish and very dangerous.
The Republicans are suffering from the disease of fear. They fear for different reasons. The thing I have a hard time understanding is, the Republicans fear many things ahead of what they should really fear, the destruction of our way of life. What good is it protecting Trump if you get destroyed and in the end you damage the entire country in the process?
The Republicans will probably acquit Trump. From that moment on they will be responsible for everything that happens next.
I have no doubt we will get through this insane period of history. However the damage may be severe and it may take a few generations to heal the damage.

(32,006 posts)Who love what trump is doing and want to see more. We think he is vandalizing the country, they see it as shaping it into their ideal way of life. That is what frightens me.

(8,090 posts)Those programs were once third rail but with Fat Nixon and his brainwashed cultists, they're not anymore. Obscene amounts of money are going to those at the very top. Choice is under attack. Environmental degradation. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Is is really fear?

(5,693 posts)Because it's part of the end game. Remake the country the way they want it. Stave off the majority that would make them extinct by taking away our voice. Their efforts to create the firewall against the inevitable demographic changes that would relegate them to minority status have been in the works for a couple of decades. Trump has been a the best thing that could happen in that effort because he has accelerated the pace on a national level.
