Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.
Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Kobe has famously used a helicopter to travel for years -- dating back to when he played for the Lakers. He was known for commuting from Newport Beach, CA to the STAPLES Center in DTLA in his Sikorsky S-76 chopper.
KB is survived by his wife Vanessa, and their four daughters -- Gianna, Natalia and Bianca and their newborn Capri.
Kobe has recently been spotted out at NBA games with his daughter Gianna -- a rising star basketball player herself. Their youngest daughter, Capri, was just born in June 2019.

Very very sorry for his wife, daughters and others close to him. Sometimes privilege is not all it is cracked up to be.

(4,875 posts)The crash, near Las Virgenes Road and Willow Glen Street, was called in at 9:47 a.m., according to City News Service. Authorities said the helicopter was on fire and sparked a quarter acre brush fire. Flames were put out by 10:30 a.m.
Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed there were no survivors of the crash. It is unknown the exact number of fatalities.
The helicopter that crashed was a Sikorksy S-76B, according to authorities.

(41,987 posts)Years ago they won tickets to a Lakers game as Sonics fans. They were right behind the Lakers bench, my teenaged son cheering for the Sonics. Some players were giving him a joking hard time and Kobe came over, patted him and said Thats right. You cheer for your team, kid. Cheer for your team.
Rest In Peace to a man of honor and grace.

(386 posts)...who reported to police (got dna tested, the whole bit,) that he raped her?

I'm not saying it's not tragic a man died. I just feel like I'm seeing across-the-board respect, when not adoration, for him here.
I admit I'm not a sports fan, don't follow/worship/fetishize any sports figures regardless of how many championship rings they have.
So okay, I'll be the guy to bring that up.
I believed the girl with the bruises on her neck and Kobe's dna then. Still do now.
Fire away!
