NBA superstar Kobe Bryant died at 41 in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday, January 26, TMZ is reporting.

The former L.A. Lakers player was traveling with at least three other people on his private helicopter when a fire reportedly broke out. Fire brigade and paramedics attended the scene but TMZ reports that five people are confirmed dead.

It’s believed that Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, was not on board.

Story is developing.

And this was my exact point yesterday with regards to our democratic candidates flying on a private jet. These things happen and as a party we’ve seen this unfortunate reality too many times. We need to be very careful in supporting the candidates flying in private jets.

Heck, it might even be safer because you’re not flying with a bunch of strangers who might want to harm the candidate.

I guess I just don’t like that so many have died in private planes. Our party seems to have this happen so often.

And in spite of the whackjob Trump campaign, presidential campaigns tend to hire qualified pilots.

This is very sad for everyone involved.

You...and I...and every other person on DU have NOTHING to do or say about how anyone flies. "We need to be very careful?"

WTF are you even writing about. Go turn the X-files on.

Among many others. You may be to young to know that and may think that no politician has died this way.

Shocking...the first tweet was via TMZ, and I always double-check anything they post against other sources.

9 people were shot in Carolina last night, 3 were murdered in a home invasion this AM in NY.

It is sad, a privately owned helicopter crashed in CA, {edit} possibly his daughters were on board. Meanwhile people are being murdered all the time.
