(11,495 posts)one way or another. We have to get every voter we can vote. I live in Washington state, and we have our ballots mailed to us ahead of time, we get a pamphlet explaining the different issues and the party of the candidates. We then mail them back in a prepaid envelope.
Pretty easy.
It's the same here in Colorado, and it was the same in California.
Of course though, in the Deep South - where I lived for several years not too long ago - you had to vote in person, rain or shine.
If you lived in a white neighborhood, the experience could be downright inviting ("Well, hi! Howareyouuuu?" ).
For our black friends though, it usually meant driving several miles (many had no cars, as Republicans know very well) - and of course long lines.
Sometimes the poll station - often in a majority-black church - would be cancelled at the last minute because the state "found mildew" or "asbestos."
And yet, every election night there they were: voting diligently and patiently.
