5th US Coronavirus case was someone at ASU, one of the biggest universities in the country.

Who knows how many people s/he infected in their incubation period?
(They are isolated now).

I work at one of the local community colleges, and students and faculty go back and forth from ASU all the time.

Have to say, I'm a little concerned.

I got the flu shot, but, I don't believe a "corona shot" is available....

Even though I'm "under age" they give me the pneumonia shot as well.

untrue. See some of the more recent articles, or maybe the Lancet paper.

Average age is in the 40s, healthy people are being infected. Youngest patient is nine month old.

The Guardian live updating is a great place to get updated news. New York Times too.

Last week, both my husband and I suffered from some sort of stomach bug. We had a fever, diarrhea, and much throwing up. My appetite has not yet recovered.

We don't expect the flu shot to cover everything. We are staying home for a few days yet.

We live in a small town and have not traveled much outside our community in the last few weeks.

Re:

It is not even particularly effective against the flu. Last year, 42% of people who contracted influenza had received the vaccine. (In my age range, 46% of people who contracted influenza had the vaccine.)

I think everyone who lives in College Station is connected to A&M. (Apartment managers, bars and fast food places etc) It's all about the university. Nobody lives at their parents' place that goes to school there.

And for some reason it is VERY big for Asian tour groups to come here...by the busload, probably fly in at Sf and then have a package trip to Ski in Tahoe...
Now I am also wondering how safe I am even here...

Thought living in a "remote" area would be better equipped to deal with the SHTF...like the big cities would be worst hit. Guess it really just depends on the type of Shit hitting what fan

anyway, thanks for the thought about college and Universities, my daughter is in college now here locally.

Good luck with your health, too

Both of my sons have alopecia areata (hair loss) in its most extreme form, universalis. It seems as if in aa, the immune system is hyperactive, and essentially they never get sick. The did have all the normal childhood immunizations.

When we used to go to the alopecia conferences, other alopecians would report very rarely getting sick also.

I do understand that other auto-immune disorders will be different.

Stock up on rice and dry beans. Cheap, easy food to keep you from having to go out should things go south.
