Republicans in congress foolishly believe protecting Trump will protect them.

After watching Trump these past few years, a child could recognize Trump cannot be trusted. A child could recognize Trump does not care about anybody except himself. A child could recognize Trump will turn on, destroy anyone, if it was in his best interest. Trump uses people to benefit himself. If he no longer sees a benefit, he will discard you like a piece of trash.

If Trump were the captain of the Titanic, he would have been the first person on a lifeboat and he would not care who drowned.

When looking at the Republicans in congress, what you are seeing is a ship of fools.

They assume their spawn will be protected by their complicity. How fucking naïve.

4. If they want to protect their seats, they have to protect him.

The cult base absolutely loves him. Going against him is a death sentence in their districts. His vindictiveness is the reason they can’t do anything. Because they know he’ll turn on them in an instant, they can’t say a single cross word against him. That fact that he may turn on them anyway on a whim is the risk they’re willing to take. It’s self preservation for them.

Because once he’s gone, they don’t have to worship his base anymore.

7. Do they have to be cowards to protect their seats?

That's what they are. They are members of the Senate. They should not fear doing the right thing and then defending it like adults.

Trump is guilty and he must be removed. They should say it ,do it and then defend themselves against the monster they created in the first place, their base.

11. That's why they need to vote on an anonymous vote for conviction.

We just need 4 republicans to agree to an anonymous final vote. Word from inside the GOP has it that likely 35 republicans would vote to convict him if there were no repercussions. That would give more than the 2/3 vote needed to get rid of him.

8. GOP in congress have ZERO choice, so we democrats MUST do all we can come Nov 2020

IF ANY GOP abandons trump, trump CONTROLS 60-70% of the GOP voting base and any GOP'er who opposes trump WILL be primaried and beaten.

The plus side for democrats, the GOP'er who would win would be even further batshit crazy and BEATABLE in the general election.

We we do what we need to, Nov 2020 could be the largest change in political power that America ever saw.
