Even if it is John Bolton, that is not enough.
This is too important to sweep under the rug or pretend they can spin and control the message of only one witness. The Senate needs to get the full story. If that requires a dozen witnesses, then so be it. This crisis is not going to fix itself.
They should call Mulvaney, Pompeo, Rick Perry, Giuliani, Lev Parnas, Devin Nunes, Paul Manafort, Gordon Sondland, Maria Yovanovitch, the OMB staff, the National Security officials that heard the call from Zelensky, and others that might have information that will help the Senate get to the bottom of it.
One witness is not enough.

(21,359 posts)Calling 1 witness, if it is John Bolton will cause a panic for Trump and Republicans. First of all it will push back the trial past the Super Bowl, past the state of the union which will leave Trump furious.
Also, what else will Bolton testify to? Does he know about the corrupt natural gas schemes of Ghouliani and Rick Perry?
I hear where you are coming from kentuck, but just Bolton testifying will be disastrous for Trump and for Republicans, especially the ones up for reelection in 2020.

(111,102 posts)...in my opinion, we should put the strongest argument forward, and not settle for a Republican compromise. In the end, we will get what we get, but why settle for that in the beginning?

(5,499 posts)I'm not buying the report that Moscow Mitch doesn't have the votes. If he truly doesn't have the votes, expect him to announce that he is either retiring or resigning.
Or they are going to back door Trump. One or the other.

They are a gerrymandered minority and may be able to hold the senate forever, given that each state gets two senators. They own the majority of small states. Hell, Wyoming has 12 people in it and California has about 40 million, yet they both have the same power in the senate.

(1,737 posts)The Democrats would like to testify. They are: Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, former National Security Adviser John Bolton, Mulvaneys senior adviser Robert Blair, and Associate Director for National Security at the Office of Management and Budget Michael Duffey. IMO these four are chosen with compelling reason that they can provide the best evidence, if they testify and testify truthfully.
The msm is concentrating on one because of recent revelations.
