Manchin says Hunter Biden is relevant impeachment trial witness in break with fellow Democrats

Sen. Joe Manchin indicated he could support calling Hunter Biden as a witness in President Trump’s impeachment trial, breaking with his Democratic colleagues.

The West Virginia senator was asked Wednesday whether 2020 candidate Joe Biden’s son is a “relevant witness” ahead of a vote later this week on calling witnesses to testify.

“I think so. I really do. I don’t have a problem there because this is why we are where we are. Now, I think that he can clear himself — what I know, what I’ve heard. But being afraid to put anybody that might have pertinent information is wrong, no matter if you’re a Democrat or Republican,” Manchin told MSBNC’s Morning Joe.

Trump’s impeachment team has painted the former vice president and his son as corrupt actors who should be investigated. Hunter Biden sat on the board of a Ukrainian gas company while his father was vice president.

He doesn't, but because the state of West Virginia has done such a spectacular job in providing such a substandard basic education in its schools, the Trump loving low information voters believe it, so Manchin has to kiss their butts for votes.

He may not vote like a Dem, but he still counts as one toward Dems taking over the Senate in November.

But really, let's assume that everything the Trump administration is saying about the Bidens is true. It's not, but let's say it is. What relevant testimony would Hunter Biden have in connection with the articles of impeachment that the House referred to you on President Trump? If the Bidens need to be investigated, that's a separate matter from the matter before you.

Ask yourself this, Joe: If the Bidens did all these horrible, corrupt actions in 2016 (they didn't), why didn't the FBI look into any of it before Joe Biden became the Democratic party front-runner for the 2020 nomination? Why didn't all this naked corruption (which didn't happen) get the attention of the administration until now?

I don't think you're a fool, Senator. Why are you acting like one?

But, but MOM! He got to do it.

The question is, Did Trump do something wrong? NOT Did Hunter Biden do something wrong.

Imagine if every trial was run that way....But Charles Manson got to manipulate his followers into murdering Sharon Tate why shouldn't I get away with driving my followers to murder someone.

Oh, and don't forget about the Trump children. Let's call them as witnesses too. Keeping the childish thing going.

ON edit, get Leonardo diCaprio to bring his flame thrower and protect Sharon Tate and America. Imagine that! Orange Pumpkin Pie--overcooked.

Second edit: apologies. Spoiler alert. Quentin Tarantino had a lovely ending. Besides, if we don't get rid of him, we all know it's all going to end in fire!

even if the bidens were ten times the crooks republicans pretend they are, it would be completely irrelevant.

it's still an abuse of power to withhold military aid to an ally, contrary to federal law, in order to benefit his own personal political prospects.

it's not relevant whether or not his number one political opponent is corrupt or not. if any alleged corruption matters at all, what matters is whether or not he's established a solid pattern of investigating corruption regardless of consequence. if a political opponent just happened to fall into a wide net, that's one thing. but if the net was designed to snag exactly one particular political opponent, then the particulars of the allegation don't matter in the slightest.

... he's signaling to moderates they should vote for witnesses. He's trying to form a group of moderates for witnesses. We are bargaining nothing by "allowing" Hunter Biden. The Republicans will investigate the Bidens and call him, anyway. After this trial, expect the Biden investigations to start... Barr and McConnell will investigate... it will last all year.

If he did something wrong, he should be indicted. In the US, in Ukraine. Then they have a trial - a real one, with, you know, evidence and witnesses. Then the jury - a real one, not the sham one on display now in the Senate - will discuss and debate and consider, and then he would be acquitted, or convicted.

People who are not under indictment or arrest don't need to do fuck-all.

Even if Hunter Biden ninja-ed himself into the National Bank of Ukraine and got out again with a backpack stuffed full of hryvnia, extortion by withholding millions of dollars worth of military aid approved with a bipartisan Congressional vote is still an inappropriate and impeachable response.

that show that Biden was doing anything illegal and therefore deserving of being investigated for corruption.

Last I checked fn conservatives think taking advantage of your family name is a virtue. Makes you clever.

Two faced and a smear campaign Manchin is playing to it.
