Yes he is ultimately going to be acquitted

This vote is about witnesses and documents

Yesterday we turned the tables

We know they're vote

The dems job is to make that vote as shameful as possible

This win would be crucial for that

9. As usual, title of article doesn't jive with the body. Why leave out "believe"?

Actual title:

"GOP senators believe they have the votes to block witnesses"

And it's just a few senators who think that and they admit they don't know for sure.

“If I had to guess, no witnesses,” he said.

14. I'm not sure that this wouldn't hurt Republicans more than calling witnesses would

First of all, it is inconceivable to me that this Senate could under essentially any circumstances actually vote to remove Trump from office. So this won't change that.

Two, if true that means at most only one or two Republicans running in swing states are willing to vote for witnesses, since we already know that Romney and Murkowski were among those most open to it and they aren't up for reelection. This can be used against Republicans running in swing states in 2020.

Three, it guts any claim of exoneration that Trump will make when the Senate fails to remove him, if the Senate refuses to even allow an eye witness to testify .

Four, much more evidence against Trump will be coming out anyway, both from Bolton's book etc. and from the ongoing legal actions against Rudy and Company. That's just what we know of. When that evidence is revealed, during the election campaign, it will further establish that Republicans were complicit in a coverup by shutting down the impeachment trial without seeking out the truth.

They are perhaps getting to choose their poison, but there is no good way out of this now for Republicans.
