We oldies who lived through the previous impeachment, it didn't seem so antiquated?

There is so much wrong here:

* Ricky ticky procedures.

* Let's not omit: PERFIDIOUS oath-takers!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ------------Excuse me?!1

* Witness tampering and threatening?!

(Feel free to add on here. )

(as well as Iran Contra) is how riveted we were as a nation ... out of necessity. In 1974 there were pretty much only the 3 networks, and even though in 1998 there was cable, there really wasn’t much, and there certainly weren’t niche left and right networks to insulate yourself in (just CNN). It seemed like everyone was watching, and everyone was hearing the same thing and judging.

Today, there are a zillion distracting “outs” from having to watch, on cable or streaming. And everyone tunes in to hear their own punditry takes on their preferred echo chamber networks. And we have mute buttons, so we don’t have to listen to the other side. Or clips on the Daily Show or Fox News, as you like.

And this is why I think the Republicans feel they can get away with these preposterous arguments and even lies. (To be fair, our side does its own bit of grandstanding, though using the facts.). They know their audiences are choosing to watch or hear only what the want to, or are seeing the recaps or clips specifically tailored to them.

It’s almost like we are two different nations. Maybe this is our version of the Civil War. I guess at least there is less blood on the battlefield. But it still feels depressingly like a battle.

Clinton was impeached over a consensual blow job.

First of all how many people have extramarital affairs in this country? Millions.

Is it just men who have affairs? Nope.

Do married women have affairs? Yup.

How many politicians have extramarital affairs? A whole lot of them that we actually know about. Men who stood in judgement of Clinton while the great majority of Americans watched in disbelief.

And I thought it was a crazy world then!

You can just never say it can’t get worse or crazier!
