There's a crook in the White House, but we're not quite at the point of apocalypse.

Seriously, if the state of democracy was in the hands of someone like John Bolton, who has utter contempt for democratic principles, we're already lost.

There's a reason why he played coy with the House subpoena before the impeachment, and only dropped his book leaks after the question of him testifying was safely in the hands of the Republican Senate.

He gained power and influence if he looks like he's willing to testify, but he only loses support and reputation if he actually pulls the trigger. He's a neocon, neocons are by nature bullies, and threatening with no real intention of follow-through is Bullying 101.

we essentially have a ruler who is unanswerable to anyone or anything. How does that not mark the end of democracy? Trump will essentially be a king, and our election in 2020 (if there is one) will be wide open to every kind of fraud, manipulation, foreign interference and whatnot that it will have all the meaning of a Russian election.

I think we're completely up against the wall here.

Do you really think Trump will act magnanimously after acquittal?

It's a sorry state of affairs. We need to get the money out of politics. Interestingly, most rank and file Republicans feel the same way

...seriously angry at John Bolton for not stepping up to spill all he knows RFN.

This came as they were all discussing if and when Bolton would open his mouth. Because meaningful time is running out fast.

just a big phony and has no intention of stepping forward and telling what he knows. He has as much regard for the U.S. as trump does.
