It should also be pointed out that the statement is not true. While his approval has gone up a bit in the last few weeks, Fivethirtyeight's "poll of polls" shows his average approval at 43.5%. By contrast, it was 45.5 in the month after his inauguration.

Impeachment will backfire on democrats- because at the end of the day it doesnt matter what evidence came out, most Americans tune out after 2 days... And then just tune back in at the end to see who the winner is.

(1,836 posts)Be confused with lack of respect for the country itself. I swore to uphold and defend that constitution- did you?
Dont be naive about your fellow citizens. They can barely handle tuning in to all 4 quarters of a single football game. Theyre not going to tune in for months of impeachment trials.

(4,490 posts)It's a current outlier poll for people who don't understand statistics and probability to freak out about. Taking into account the aggregate with all other polls taken during that time period (and a bit later), I think his approval rating is up about 0.2% from its December high of 43.4%.

(13,571 posts)...they call people on landlines. Not a poll worth consideration.

(23,967 posts)this poll is as worthy of consideration as any of their other polls
i hope it's an outlier, but this "they polled the wrong people" garbage needs to stop.

(10,039 posts)Instead of trying to change the sentiment that led to the results we just ignore the results. November, if it happens at all, is going to go swimmingly for us.

(4,490 posts)and give the political "analysts" something to talk about. Most would be better off ignoring polls, as they can't even begin to understand them.
Of the polls released today so far, Gallup is the highest, even higher than Rasmussen, the most consistently conservative biased poll. That should tell you something right there. His approval rating will tick up a bit for a variety of reasons, but not nearly to that extent.

(4,490 posts)His approval ratings were much higher when he first took office, tanked, then self corrected to the near flatline we've had for a couple years now.
His average aggregate rating on 538 is the highest it's been since mid December... by a whopping 0.2%. His polling numbers have stayed in a 3% range for about 3 years now.

(2,002 posts)Nothing has occurred which would sway anyone as to "approving" or "disapproving" of Trump or the "job" he is doing. The past two months have been a bunch of nothing.
Further, once again, MSMBC is in full Trump Re-Election Mode(TRM) because they see Trump better for their bottom line than another Republican or a Democrat. Many people refuse to accept this. CNN too. The media isn't "left" or "right", it is corporate with stock holders. Those who fund the media are dead set on re-electing Trump. Otherwise, they could have already set a narrative that would have resulted in the GOP forcing Trump to resign.

(10,039 posts)The easiest answer is that people are dumb.
trumps highest ratings were in inauguration week.

(8,928 posts)Particularly the daytime programming, up until 8 PM EST at least. I can't listen to it without having to shut it off. And CNN, not an ounce of difference between the two. It is all show, sensationalism, creating drama and big corporate advertising. Drive BS media talking points into the ground. Promote a horse race. Leave out pertinent details. Both siderism. Give a platform to right wing hacks like Hugh Hewitt and Matt Schlapp. Denigrate our candidates and our processes while looking for various ways to normalize and legitimize Trump.
