Joe LIEberman.
I was tricked into believing that Joe Lieberman, was really a democrat, back in 2000.
I hope you folks will find it in your hearts, to forgive me for such a blunder.

(17,567 posts)I too strayed but once in my otherwise unblemished voting record. Voted for Arne Carlson for Governor of Minnesota in 1990.

(33,688 posts)Sensible, pragmatic and not terribly ideological. I wasn't surprised a bit that he endorsed Kerry and Obama in the last two presidential elections. That the buybull-bangers hated him with a passion just made me respect him more.

That said, I didn't vote for him twice.

(37,726 posts)was one of the first people in Washington to advise Al Gore to give up the fight in Florida after the BushCo theft in 2000. Joe has gone on over even more to the GOP every day, since then.
If I were Obama I wouldn't ever trust Joe...period!

(9,891 posts)I voted for Gerald Ford back when Republicans were sane. Hell, if Nixon were running with the same record (minus Vietnam) he had in '72 I'd vote for him tomorrow. He did a lot more for social programs than Obama ever has.
I think I might have even voted for Arlen Spector once. He was sane 3/4 of the time. Today I'll take it. Arlen is about the last Repub I voted for, but not the last time he ran. It's been quite awhile and at this point I doubt it will ever happen again.

(46,097 posts)You couldn't vote for Al Gore, the Democrat without also voting for Joe Lieberman, the non-democrat in 2000.

(37,726 posts)I think Al Gore would have been a great two term president. The USA was the loser in 2000.

(37,726 posts)Sometimes you just have to do that.
Better than voting against yourself and your family.

(33,688 posts)A conservadem sandbagged Minnesota liberal icon Don Fraser in the Democratic primary. He was a loudmouthed asshole and Durenberger was the more liberal of the two candidates in the general election. So I voted for Durenberger, and he went on to be a very vocal critic of Ronnie Raygun's Central American policies throughout the eighties. Never regretted my vote for a minute. Interestingly, Durenberger is now a registered indepedent.
Durenberger has always marched to his own drumbeat.

(37,726 posts)I can forgive Durenberger for finally seeing the light.

(37,726 posts)I'd never heard of Joe Lieberman before 2000. And I wish I had never heard of GI Joe LIEberman to this day.
