The disease within the GOP existed long before Trump

Remember the run up to the Iraq War? French fries were renamed "Freedom Fries" simply because France called b.s. on the war rationale.

And who was that senator that was ejected from the party simply because he wouldn't fall in line with his party and voted against the war. He was from an eastern state. I vaguely recall his fellow GOP senators putting his photo in the commode so they could pee on his face.

They have always been authoritarian, goose stepping assholes. Now under Trump they are authoritarian, goose stepping assholes on steroids.

The Senate GrOPers who voted to acquit aren't afraid of Trump -- they are afraid of the 1/3 to 1/2 of the country who see Trump as the avatar of their own fear, anger, frustration, grievance, hatred, insecurity, greed, etc.
