Would You Poison Your Kids For A Nickel An Hour Raise?

This is the question we need to ask Republicans.

Trump can't stop bragging about the economy, while he guts environmental protections "to create jobs".

Trump is juicing the numbers by letting polluters poison our kids, and running up debt like there is no tomorrow. No one is calling him out on it. If Obama closed the EPA and stopped protecting EVERYTHING his recovery would have been far greater. But.....

Would you poison the environment for a nickel an hour raise?

Some think we need to protect our planet, not destroy it with unchecked pollution. Anyone heard of California or Australia? Maybe 47 inches of rain in Houston? 4 Cat 4 hurricanes in one year? Arctic permafrost melting (baaaaad).

Maybe the/some Democrats could point out this fact.

When a Democrat is in the White House, there's nothing more important than the budget deficit and the national debt. The country can't be saddling our kids with all this debt! We need to cut, cut, cut the budget and bring back fiscal sanity, like yesterday.

When a Republican is in the White House, "Deficits don't matter; Reagan proved that," as [s]Mephistopheles[/s] Dick Cheney said. It's time to rev up the gravy train and empty the national treasury into the pockets of the wealthy. Clinton turned a surplus in his last year in office, and Bush blew up the budget with his tax cuts the next year, and launching two invasions the next two years. Not a peep about fiscal responsibility from the media, and Democrats were too cowed by the bleats of "Support the troops!" from Republicans every time someone hinted that "Hey, how are we going to pay for this?" Obama cut the annual shortfall to less than $500 billion in spite of Republican obstructionism, which Trump promptly blew up with . . . more tax cuts for the wealthy! We're back over $1 trillion in deficit spending, and the underpinnings of the economy continue to be eaten away. There's a recession coming, maybe even a depression, and it'll be a doozy, fed by the feckless and clueless economic policies of the Trump administration. The media will examine the sad scene with a steely gaze, and decide that it's all the fault of the poverty-stricken and their SNAP benefits and insistence on a nickel an hour more than the minimum wage.

Throw enough money at the filthy rich, while removing regulatory obstacles for them, and eventually they will kick back some propaganda and campaign donations. Sure it's bad for every living thing on the planet, but it's good for the GOP.

Do you really think they care about their children?

Because I don't think they give two shits..the religious zealots are salivating at the prospect of going to a better place, the rich followers know that their children will never be exposed and if it happens they can afford to pay for any treatments!

And both groups look forward to our children and grandchildren suffering...

To answer your query...the religious zealots would gladly poison their own children, for free...and their rich counterparts would poison our children as long as there's a dollar to be made.

"The Environment" is an abstract concern, mostly remote from daily lives. It's hard to see how a dead honeybee affects the amount of food you can put on the table tonight.

Humans are not good at changing in response to abstract threats. Frog, pot, water, etc.

The GOP knows this; it's why they focus on tax cuts right away (even if they're a scam). About time Dems act like they know it too.

you'd think they might have just a little curiosity about how their own children and grandchildren are going to avoid the inevitable fallout from climate change. Things like water scarcity, pestilence and world unrest aren't just swept under the persian rug.

If the idea of living in an actual ivory tower, isolated from the mad max shit going down below, doesn't deter them nothing will.

of course, stocks will go up. That doesn't change the fact we are adding another trillion to the debt every year.

And trump’s not deregulating to create jobs, he’s doing it because fewer regulations means more money in the pockets of the oligarchs. Surely no one is still buying that trickle down job creator bullshit.
