(11,257 posts)You can't bet on your team to win all 162 games. Even a team that wins 110 games - which would make it one of the greatest teams of all time - will lose 52 games.
There's just no way that he didn't manage his team differently on days when he didn't bet on them to win. He may not have intentionally done anything different, but it doesn't matter. And who knows if he didn't impact his team days that he did bet on them. Part of being a manager means managing your team for a long season. Who's to say that he didn't overuse his bullpen, including by risking injury, on days when he had large amounts on the Reds to win?

(57,145 posts)then he did it again. Even if he was only betting on the Reds to win, he could have been point shaving and by the mere fact of betting, underworld types had a secret about him to black mail him with.
Pete did what he did multiple times after being caught at and lied to investigators about, it. No Hall of Fame, yet.
