RW players in massive welfare embezzlement case got millions from taxpayers, but helped few

I think this deserves to be beyond the Mississippi group, because this is typical conservative law-breaking, and the kind of thing we need to hang around all Republicans' necks:

Families First for Mississippi’s recently-opened State Street center, run by the nonprofit Mississippi Community Education Center, promises to lift families out of poverty. Human Services has granted the nonprofit approximately $53 million since the beginning of fiscal year 2018 reportedly to do just that, state expenditures show.
...
Hours later, law enforcement agents would arrest the nonprofit’s owner, Nancy New, and former Human Services director John Davis in the largest public embezzlement scheme in state history, according to the office of the State Auditor.

New and Davis allegedly stole millions from the federal TANF program intended to provide basic assistance and work supports to the nation’s poorest residents. The federal government gives states broad discretion to spend the money — about $130 million a year in Mississippi.
...
Nancy New, founder of the private New Summit School in Jackson, has long had the support of state leadership and often appeared on conservative SuperTalk radio to promote her work.

This is the Mississippi swamp. As Wonkette says, "Mississippi gave tens of millions to a center for poor people, so it wouldn't have to give the money to poor people. Rightwing grifters stole it because that's what they do."

It is bad, bad, bad to be ON welfare of any kind! Their is so much to be said about the opportunity to work one or more low-paying part-time jobs and live paycheck-to-paycheck on the verge of homelessness and without benefits. That's the dignity of work! USA!

Now, that welfare is a horrendous affront, but stealing that money. Now we're talking. Why waste in on people in poverty? A good embezzlement scheme takes planning, persistence and effort as well as a modicum of intelligence, which are all deeply held American values. And look! You talk about success, that amazing work was a terrific, economic success and getting caught was the only snag.

I feel like I just wrote the preamble to current Republican policies or the Get the Grift Going Act.

In part because of course some will point to this to say that Social Programs to help the poor are just corrupt and shouldn't be attempted.
