(SALT LAKE CITY) — The Trump administration is asking Congress for $1.5 billion over 10 years to create a new national stockpile of U.S.-mined uranium, saying that propping up U.S. uranium production in the face of cheaper imports is a matter of vital energy security.

But some Democratic lawmakers, and market analysts across the political spectrum, charge that the Trump administration’s overall aim is really about helping a few uranium companies that can’t compete in the global market. Demand for the nuclear fuel has languished worldwide since Japan’s 2011 Fukushima disaster. U.S. uranium production has plummeted 96% in the last five years, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Thursday.

Trump made the request for a new national uranium reserve in his 2021 budget request this week — the latest illustration that trying to rescue the U.S. nuclear and coal industries is a political priority for the Republican president who often invokes national security as justification.

So production can be spun up w/o adding to competition for Russian uranium on the world market ... but then Russia controls companies (Uranium One being one) that produce uranium here ... so this way they'll be getting paid to produce it (unlike now, where they're purposefully trying not to, for the benefit of Russia) by Uncle Sam, who won't sell it.

Makes a great deal of sense in this light. Money straight into Russia's pocket, courtesy of IQ45.

If High Desert Mining of Denver could not make their Bears Ears Claims work out with both financing and recoverable yellow cake,no one will. These folks are considered one of the best Junior Mining operations in the States.

So all those open up Mining in the Bears Ears as well as the Grand Staircase pounders,just is not going to happen. That deposit is so worked out and yes the finished product would be one of the most expensive on the planet.

Looks like this was another Graft operation idea churned up by the likes of Hatch,Grassley,Lee,Gardner and Flake. Just like the Coal lobby,their day has left town never to be found.
