Barack Obama ✔@BarackObama
Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history.

You know, in hindsight, it's like we didn't even deserve him.
Miss My President.

(18,770 posts)AP FACT CHECK: Trump takes credit for Obamas gains for vets

WASHINGTON (AP) Boastful on the occasion of Memorial Day, President Donald Trump and his Veterans Affairs secretary are claiming full credit for health care improvements that were underway before they took office.
Trump said he passed a private-sector health care program, Veterans Choice, after failed attempts by past presidents for the last 45 years. Thats not true. The Choice program, which allows veterans to see doctors outside the government-run VA system at taxpayer expense, was first passed in 2014 under President Barack Obama.
Trumps VA secretary, Robert Wilkie, also is distorting the facts. Faulting previous bad leadership at VA, Wilkie suggested it was his own efforts that improved waiting times at VA medical centers and brought new offerings of same-day mental health service. The problem: The study cited by Wilkie on wait times covers the period from 2014 to 2017, before Wilkie took the helm as VA secretary. Same-day mental health services at VA were started during the Obama administration.
The half-truths and exaggerations came in a week when selective accounting was a norm in Trumps rhetoric, extending into his trip to Japan , where he inflated the drop in the U.S. unemployment rate for women.

...so I can understand why you thought that.

(17,984 posts)And brags have no end. Normal people get embarrassed when their lies are exposed. Trump just tells another.
There is something lacking in those who still back him.

I find it pathetic that with instant information all over.. I had one last week argue me the House and Senate were not Congress.

(6,448 posts)America and its citizens. We had been bankrupted, no jobs, no future, no hope. Obama saved our nation and our auto industry, which in turn saved other industries and created more jobs. Then he set his sights on health care. Killing bin Laden was the icing on the cake.
Then came the Nobel Peace Prize, Time's Person of the Year, and now an Oscar.
They had better find room on Mt. Rushmore for a 5th Liberal president to be celebrated in a red state. FDR and JFK should be there too.
Too bad for Donald J Swamp, there isn't a Mt. Flushmore. Trump, Dubya, Reagan and Nixon would make the first cut. Instead of cutting a ribbon for the Grand Opening, we can find 18 minutes of audio tape and use Florida chads for confetti. Bring in all the decorations in that mythical "Cadillac purchased with food stamps".

Just like a Republican: mindlessly support GWB, who wrecked the economy, and spit on the Democrat who didn't "do enough".
I friggin' hate Republicans.
