(6,212 posts)1. LBJ always had great retorts..
he never seems to get enough credit for how right on he always was.

(90,690 posts)2. Heh. I have The Little Red Book of LBJ kicking around here someplace...
The epigraph is: "Don't spit in the soup. We all got to eat."
LBJ was a complex man: experienced, intelligent, earthy, devious, architect of great social programs, and iirc rammed through a bunch of civil rights legislation after JFK was assassinated by twisting people's arms and tellng they had to do it as JFK's legacy.

(6,212 posts)3. He sure was complex and successful in his endeavors...
I got to shake his hand when he was campaigning for JFK as VP in my city and even though at the time I was too young to vote I never forgot how tall and imposing he was with his cowboy hat. I have always admired him for what he accomplished.
