Trump Waives Contracting Laws for Border Wall
February 18, 2020 at 8:09 am EST By Taegan Goddard

“The Trump administration said Tuesday that it will waive federal contracting laws to speed construction of a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border,” the AP reports.

The Department of Homeland Security said waiving procurement regulations will allow 177 miles (283 kilometers) of wall to be built more quickly in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The 10 waived laws include requirements for having open competition, justifying selections and receiving all bonding from a contractor before any work can begin.”

They're not even the slightest bit subtle about it either - but then they don't need to be. They're basically just doing whatever they want 24/7 because Trump found out that if he just went ahead and did something, no one stopped him.

8. When part of the wall blew over before the concrete had set...

...it showed the contractor hadn't properly braced the wall, which means it probably wasn't inspected by a building inspector. An inspection is required before concrete is poured & no legitimate inspector would have allowed it to go forward with such inadequate bracing on the wall.

So, it looks like once again Trump is fine with half-assed construction methods & no inspections, just like all his other projects. Everything he does is substandard & half-assed.

I just hope the contractors get paid this time, although I suspect that because we taxpayers are paying the bill, & not Trump, they will get what they're owed without filing liens.

17. ARE THEY GOING TO TAKE PRIVATE LANDS TOO?

Will they use eminent domain to take private lands. They seem to be hell bent on meeting his campaign promise. LISTEN THIS CAMPAIGN PROMISE HAS ALREADY BEEN BROKEN. EVEN IF HE BUILDS THIS WALL. WHAT HE'LL DO IS LIE AND SPIN AND PRETEND ALL HIS PROMISES OF MEXICO PAYING NEVER REALLY EXISTED.

Many landowners are fighting eminent domain, but Trump told Kushner when he out him in charge to ignore the legal issues and just go ahead without the owners’ consent. Imagine the outrage of Trump supporters if someone decided to build a highway through the middle of their property and just bulldozed their house down one day while their lawsuit to prevent such destruction was still in the courts.

I’m so tired of this attitude that the law doesn’t matter so long as we get what we want.

..... the tangerine turd can continue to say he built a "big bad wolf" proof
wall that can't be blown down.
The turdettes can continue to believe him; he can cut a federal check to his cronies
for shoddy work that they haven't done; and the rest of normal America can go back to watching
The Bachelor.

And as those crafty folks down there South of the Border proved this week, the solution to a 40 foot wall is....

A 41 foot portable ladder made of rebar.
