Maybe the pressure from within and without the DOJ is becoming undeniable. The Federal Judges Association had that emergency meeting yesterday. More than 2000 former DOJ employees are calling for him to resign.
I think he knows he has to resign but is trying to save face by creating the narrative that he is leaving on his own by his own volition.
Perhaps the individuals urging him to resign are willing to go along with this narrative in order to get it done.
In other words, he wants it to look like he's quitting on principle when in actuality he's being ousted?

(8,200 posts)William Barr is one of the most vocal advocates of an authoritarian presidency. He wrote a 19 page document supporting the unlimited power of the presidency as a job application for Attorney General. I along with numerous people on this board have been attempting to bring to light the actual stated intentions of and the determination of the those who have taken control of the Republican Party. It is frustrating for me that the candidates who are presently running for the Democratic Party nomination for president have not made this the paramount issue. It appears to me that they don' have the fortitude to actually call these people out as fascists who are intent on establishing a dictatorship solely dedicated to protection of plutocrats. How much clearer can it be then Trump's own declaration that he is totally above the law and has the authority to do what ever he desires. If this is so then why did our founders challenge the authority of the King who claimed the same omnipotence.

(16,254 posts)I saw a report earlier where she has been babysitting Trump's tax and Deutsche Bank cases...blocking the disclosure of information. If that is true, they should have a family exit. Haven't heard what his son-in-law is doing.
Nepotism seems to be popular in the Trump administration.

(14,961 posts)this is real. He is Trump's golden calf, Trump will do whatever it takes to keep Barr in place. And Barr is a hardcore theocrat, who will do whatever it takes to see his dangerous, Opus Dei religious agenda enacted.
I hate sounding so negative, I get what you're saying, I hope I am wrong.

(694 posts)The only way he leaves is if the cat grabber tells him to go. You could have every judge, lawyer, paralegal, and person who watches 'Law and Order' sign a petition demanding he resign, and he's not leaving. Republicans are in power. We're not. You can't make him leave.
