"SNIP.....

“Economic advisers to the White House have suggested President Trump propose a new minimum tax on corporations as part of his election year ‘tax cut 2.0’ package, hoping to address criticism that the 2017 tax law allowed many of the country’s largest firms to virtually eliminate their federal tax burden,” the Washington Post reports.

“The idea, which is part of preliminary discussions and has not been officially endorsed, could attempt to blunt criticism from Democrats that the GOP tax law allowed many large corporations to wipe out their federal corporate taxes altogether. The plan could also help generate revenue that might be used to offset the impact of new, middle class tax cuts. Trump has promised he would roll out a middle class tax plan before the 2020 presidential election.”

The numbers from his internal GE polls must be really bad. His ceo friends must be "feeling the Bern"!!

corporate income etc. flows to individuals eventually, the AMT does hit everyone. Idiots (that passed the 2017 tax cut and jobs bill) passed a bill making corporations pay even less taxes. And now they are going through this again? Probably another sneaky way to slip in another tax cut while raising the bulk of taxes on the majority of people too.

residency is at, I am suspecting but I really don't know. Here's some more information on the AMT, that may help guide you...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Taxpayers have to complete Form 6251 to see whether they might owe AMT. First, they get to subtract the exemption amount ($71,700 for 2019/$72,900 for 2020). If their AMT is less than the exemption, they do not have to pay AMT. For married couples filing jointly, the AMT has to exceed $191,500 and the exemption figure is $111,700 ($113,400 in 2020).

It's important to note, though, that taxpayers with AMTI over a certain threshold do not qualify for the AMT exemption. For 2018-2025, these thresholds are $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for those married filing jointly.

Purpose of AMT: AMT is designed to prevent taxpayers from escaping their fair share of tax liability through tax breaks. However, the structure was not indexed to inflation or tax cuts. This can cause bracket creep, a condition in which upper-middle-income taxpayers are subject to this tax instead of just the wealthy taxpayers for whom AMT was invented. In 2015, however, Congress passed a law indexing the AMT exemption amount to inflation.

Calculating AMT: To determine if they owe AMT, individuals can use tax software that automatically does the calculation, or they can fill out IRS Form 6251. This form takes medical expenses, home mortgage interest, and several other miscellaneous deductions into account to help tax filers determine if their deductions are past an overall limit set by the IRS.

first post, being rhetorical and all, sometimes things just go way way over my head. Ha ha. Yeah, and you'll notice none of the republican hopefuls are using the 2017 tax cut (and jobs bills (WHAT JOBS?)) as a backdrop to their 2020 campaigns. How can they? One of the largest, unneeded tax cuts in history and one that is going to damage the economy (in my opinion).

Inflation is biting at the doors (at an almost unheard of 6% for some things). Stagnant wages are still lapping at the front doors of many Americans. Manufacturing is slowing down, too many other things going on that seem to signify a coming slowdown in the economy. And the 2017 tax cut (and worthless jobs bill part) was supposed to do what?

number like that in who knows how long it's been? Way artificially goosing the economy probably did the trick. I don't recall the specific article but you can do a search and find more details on. I was shocked, as I said, I hadn't seen this high of an inflation number in a long long time.

Let me guess, it doesn't have anything to the left of the decimal point, and doesn't kick in until net profits after expenses and depreciation are over $10 billion.

Am I close?
