Global Entry Has Started to Reject New Yorkers

Conde Nast Traveler

It's official: Global Entry applications from New York state residents are being booted following a state-wide suspension of the program.
Numerous tweets poured in Wednesday morning from New Yorkers who had submitted applications or had been conditionally approved for Global Entry, pending an in-person interview. Many of the tweets showed portions of rejection letters from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which runs the Global Entry program.

"You do not meet the eligibility requirements because you have listed the state of New York as your current residence," a verified letter states as the reason why the application was rejected. "At this time, CBP is unable to verify certain information connected to your application."

Officials say roughly 80,000 New Yorkers who had been conditionally approved for Global Entry or had applications pending will be automatically rejected because of the state's suspension from the program. All rejected applicants will be refunded the $100 application fee, and those refunds will be processed automatically, the CBP said in a release. A request for further comment from CBP was not immediately returned.

Very popular with small to medium businesses who do a lot of business on both sides of the border. Tourists like it too.

It lets certified holders cross the border without lengthly customs checks and such.

At least that's how I understand it. Trump is punishing New York for investigating him.

Before traveling. When you enter the us back from an overseas trip, you don't have to go through the immigration line, you take a side door. If you are a frequent traveler it saves you a lot of time.

that he was denied Global Entry. Wats must have been vetted up one side and down the other for his job with the FBI etc. Watts also noted that he would not be given a refund even though global entry service was being denied him.

There are republicans in NY who are also being denied, but I suspect big republican political players are getting waived quickly.
