Obama’s speech was a speech given by someone older, grayer, & more aware of the weight of governing

Obama’s speech was a speech given by someone older, grayer, and more aware of the weight of governing. Sending troops to fight, knowing many won't come home; dealing with epic economic challenges; holding the hands of people whose lives were ruined by natural disasters; trying to pass workable legislation with an opposing party determined to block EVERYTHING – these were the words of someone determined to keep fighting for what he believes in, but more attuned to the realities of the office. Less audacious, humbled, this wasn’t the brash young man in the football stadium (good decision to pull that one), but the veteran who has been through many battles and hasn’t won them all. And here’s the thing: people LIKE that

I thought it was also the speech of someone who has done well in a very difficult job hedgehog Sep 2012 #1
The biggest reservation I had four years ago was his lack of experience on the national level. Arkansas Granny Sep 2012 #2
Every president goes gray and that's understandable. And yes, Reagan dyed his hair. HopeHoops Sep 2012 #3
