ROME (Reuters) - An outbreak of coronavirus in northern Italy worsened on Wednesday, with more than 30 new cases confirmed in the two worst-hit regions and children found to have the illness for the first time.

Officials in Lombardy, which includes Italy’s financial capital Milan, said cases had risen overnight to 259 from 240 on Tuesday, with four children, including a 4-year-old girl, infected in the first such cases in the country.

In neighboring Veneto, the number of people confirmed to have caught the flu-like virus was 58, an increase of 13 on the previous tally given on Tuesday.

The death toll from the contagion, which came to light on Friday, remained unchanged at 11. All those who have died so far have been elderly and most had underlying health problems.

9. However, from what I understand, children aren't dying from it.

Very few children are severely affected and most recover. Of course that will be different for children who are already immuno-compromised. So far, no children have died in China.

I have only found one, a super spreader out of Germany weeks ago. There are a few of us on Twitter attempting to find whatever we can in relation to recovery, I thought if it's out there, you maybe would have seen it?

So I wonder why we have no info on recovered individuals.

We also haven't heard much about symptoms or if there are distinct symptoms we should look for early on.

I'm at the point where hearing someone cough really gets my attention when I'm out in public. It could take a while to get to my neck o' the woods and it might not. This is the time of year when locals who can travel to everywhere. It's also a low flow tourist area so it could get here quickly.

Exactly a year ago I was off on a weekend jaunt with a friend and we got stranded in a tourist town for a week by a several days long blizzard. We went out to two locations in town the first night and the next day we were sick with whatever respiratory funk was going around. That took two weeks to recover from and it was nasty. So we were sick and stranded away from home. Was not fun.

I don't get sick often and I hope to avoid getting anything this year. At least we have a lot of fresh air when the forests aren't burning down.

while I'm out I can't help but think of all the ways this thing can travel and of course coughing grabs my attention as well, were all these people coughing before and we just barely noticed?
I hope you stay well, being in the woods has to make you safer than those in large cities using mass transit.

13. Ireland v Italy Six Nations rugby match postponed, and maybe Italy v England too

What the cancellation of Six Nations matches will mean and why they'll need to be replayed

IRFU CEO Philip Browne said: "At the meeting we were informed at the meeting that the national public health emergency team has determined that the series of matches should not proceed in the interest of public health.

"The IRFU is perfectly happy to comply with this instruction. We will immediately begin to work with our Six Nations partners to look at the possibility of rescheduling those those three matches. I would hope to have an update on that in the coming days."
...
Players are due back at their clubs to be available for matches the week after the end of the Six Nations, so even extending the tournament by a week comes with huge difficulties.
...
There is also the small matter of prize money up for grabs with a total fund increased to £16m this year.

Italy were due to play in Ireland on 7 March, and England in Italy on the 14th. Both Ireland and England have a realistic chance of winning the competition, though France is still the favourite. This is the biggest rugby competition in Europe.
