Here's my theory re: Pence as Corona-Czar. It's Trump's runway to Nikki Haley as his 2020 VP.

Before Pence's announcement, the odds of this turning into media fueled, fear-mongering shit show are pretty high. Pence is Trump's firewall. by putting him in charge so publicly, it's Trump's way of saying "The buck stops over there".

Aside from the fact that Pence couldn't manage to find his ass with both hands, Trump's staffing decisions over the past 3 years have dramatically reduced our ability to effectively cope with what might be coming. So....who better to blame than Pence.

What does Trump get out of it...a rationale to dump Pence as "ineffective" that even his evangelical base can't argue with.

And that opens the way for Haley...although once Pence is gone he could reach for a myriad of scum...Cotton, Cruz, Pompeo...he's got a lot of choices...all of them bad.

Just my two cents with no data other than the fact that the dictator's playbook says always distance yourself from potential adverse outcomes.

Pence does nothing worth noting, just provides loving eyes toward the moron. Nikki being the first woman VP would have the press' interest, and that would enrage the POS. If the country catches fire, and the ass-wipe gets re-elected, Nikki of those you mentioned is the best choice, so I hope he chooses ... Cruz.

In the story of the scorpion and the frog, Trump is always the consummate scorpion and given his strangle hold on the base, he can turn on anyone in a heartbeat with little if any repercussions.

Cruz doesn't do anything for him. Haley softens the ticket for the suburban female vote and fuels that fantasy that somehow he'll temper him during a second term. I can just hear Collins explaining how wonderful it will be with her on the ticket and his learning experience from impeachment (yeah right).

everyone else in rump's orbit, prior to being taken down. And to use the excuse that pence is 'ineffective', ha ha, way too late.

...Trump will wave all Pence's ranting as sour grapes and the base will eat it up. And it's not like Pence can provide anyone with any information that will hurt Trump. There's no second bite at the impeachment apple here (at least not before November). And you can sure SCOTUS will be involved to prevent Pence from any testimony.

I don't know...I think Pence will have a hard time being heard if/when he turns on trump.

and out of the way for a new VP. The goons who have tRumps ear probably realize they need some sparkle and pizzazz standing behind him. I'm not so sure about Haley though.
