I sorry. Too little, too late.
Sad hes gone. While I did not like his anti-Liberation Theology conservative brand of Catholicism and politics, he likely will be replaced by someone even worse.
Cest la Pravda.

Those were awesome. All the people asking, "What do you want on your pizza?"
I said in another post that Matthews was a sort of relic. He didn't grow or adapt to the changes in politics. He always tried to take people back to the 80's and 90's but it just made him seem irrelevant.
Kind of like me when I hear mumble rap and think, "Jesus, these guys think they are better the Tupac, Biggie, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane? What happened to rap?" Ok X'er. That's gonna be a thing one day.

(11,771 posts)I so miss the tombstones and dancing. It gave us some much needed humor during tough times. I loved the "Disrupted Poorly".
Memories light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories of the way we were
Scattered pictures of tombstones left behind
Hearts we gave to one another for the fundraiser
Can it be that it was all so simple then
Was W all that bad?
If Cheney had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would he?
Could he?

(45,806 posts)Yes he talked over his guests, but he also wasn't afraid of asking some tough questions that I wanted answered too. I still haven't forgiven MSNBC for firing Keith Olberman. It will take a while to get over Tweety too.

(9,353 posts)Not my favorite but, damn - he made a beautiful exit!
Kind of reminded me of that male flight attendant who just got fed up, made an announcement on the PA, deployed the escape chute and bid a big fuck you to his airline.
Perfect!

(41,991 posts)Tweety was guilty of some assholery but I had a certain affection for him. To go out today of all days with that big ol fu did have a certain je ne sais quoi.

(3,088 posts)I'm not as old (but not by much) and I'm not as influential. Nevertheless, I still work at a job I love that puts me in contact with younger people every day. I think of myself as wise, experienced, and observational. Teenagers and young adults and even the staff around me could consider me "creepy". I try to be positive and affirming-I suppose that could be misconstrued. So, like Chris, I will one day leave the job I have loved for over forty years, hopefully with as much grace and as little fanfare as Mr. Matthews. Fare thee well, sir. Thank you for your service.

Mark Halperin Says Murderers Are Treated More Fairly Than Canceled People
