He could swat this tick and but why pay him any attention since that is what he wants.
I just think someone with standing should be dealing with this nonsense.

I loved her. Watching her made my day.
Endorsements usually mean nothing to me. But OBriens opinion would carry a boatload of weight with me. More than any individual since Barbara Jordan.
Just found a very good piece on OBrien, its definitely worth your time:

(1,206 posts)is that there is always the tiiiiiiniest grain of truth at the core.
In this instance I have no idea what the Hell he's talking about, but I guarantee that someone told him about some incredibly obscure rule the Obama administration put into place that deals with medical testing or screening (but not in any way related to something like this), and that's the basis from which he says shit like this.
I find it maddening.

(11,744 posts)Trump interprets information in a very maladaptive and self serving way. There is no "truth" to what he is saying. They may have removed a policy the was put in by President Obama, but it was not getting in the way of anything and likely served an important purpose.
Trump very rarely gives any details about what he is doing, which policy, what did it do, how was it interfering with anything, what will be the results of removing the policy good and bad. Trump usually doesn't know because he is stupid and incurious, and he doesn't care because his function is not to provide information or facts, but to muddy the waters and make himself look good.

(33,400 posts)I've seen a group of reporters back each other up in a "driveway interview" only once, back in 2017. Ask him for details, and the façade of confident bluster cracks instantly.
That's the only time he's ever taken a series of question on the same topic that I know of.

(1,206 posts)But experts on lab testing have said they are unaware of an Obama administration rule that would have hindered the use of tests developed at university or private labs in an emergency
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/04/donald-trump-obama-administration-coronavirus
My point is that there is SOMETHING, SOMEWHERE that Trump uses as the basis for what he is saying a lot of the time - I never said he doesn't interpret the information in a self-serving way, in fact that's pretty much exactly what I was saying.
In this case, there was in fact a regulation in place that required private labs to go through the FDA, which one can imagine would slow things down. This regulation existed, but was clearly not meant to get in the way of a situation like this and clearly Trump is using this as a smoke screen to hide as much incompetence coming out of his administration as possible as it relates to their handling of the virus.

(22,976 posts)Facts that are twisted to be disruptive, misleading, destructive or self-promoting are a perversion of the truth. They are anti-truth.
Heres a sample of the vicious LYING that is Trumps specialty. I defy anyone to find a grain of truth, however tiny, in these utterly false claims:
-An 'extremely credible source' has called my office and told me that Barack Obama's birth certificate is a fraud.
-Ukraine interfered in the 2016 election
-Biden acted corruptly as Vice President to benefit his son
-The whistleblower made a "false account"
-Article II of the Constitution lets me do whatever I want
-We're "taxing the hell out of China" with tariffs
-The Mueller report "totally exonerated" Trump
-Where Hurricane Dorian was expected to hit, repeatedly refuting the National Weather Service
-Windmills cause cancer
-"Well be going to Mars very soon."
