I am seriously considering taking my kid out of public school and enrolling her in a private online school, but I can't get any information online about the process of doing that, how speedily it can be done, etc. Is there anyone here who has any experience with this?
I do not think that the schools in my area are taking the Coronavirus risk seriously.

(2,074 posts)We're in Virginia. Most of the info is on homeschooling, but I'm looking at online private school.
My daughter's school insisted that she goes to school this week despite the fact that she is still overcoming bronchitis and that I'm currently battling it. If I was able to be tested for COVID-19, I would go, since I have all the symptoms (and not flu symptoms): short fever 2 weeks ago, followed by gradual development of lung issues, and no improvement despite being on bronchitis treatments all week. No confirmed cases in my state, but we all know that is meaningless, since they have not been testing sufficiently. So the school has no way of knowing if I have it, or whether my daughter could be spreading it - or for that matter, picking it up and carrying it home. I'm feeling quite anxious about this.

(2,074 posts)which places me at high risk. This is likely not Covid, but I know I am considerably weakened, I know kids can carry the virus, and I know my risk is very high. And yes, this has not behaved like previous viruses I've had.
