Me: We'd lose a Senate seat. He'd be replaced by a Republican

He is way more progressive than his constituency would indicate. If he gets called up, we'd be lucky to replace him with a Democrat, let alone with one even close to his politics.

And you're right. We need him in the Senate. And there's no way that Ohio's super-partisan governor would replace him with a Democrat or even a reasonable Republican.

But we need a wide tent for this ticket that is inclusive of everyone. Having two white guys from the same region of the country will cause diverse voters to stay at home.
I admire Sherrod Brown a lot but the timing is wrong.

McConnell has been a disaster, we need him out as bad as we need the child king out of the White House.

CA is solidly blue, so we wouldn’t lose the seat. She’s a powerhouse.

would alienate all kinds of voting blocs, and I wouldn't blame them.

Hell, I'm sorry we couldn't get one of those excellent women candidates on the top of the ticket. But to be honest, two very important voting blocs elevated Biden this time, women and black voters of both genders.

No way I would surrender Sen Brown's seat to a Repub.

Kennedy would suspend his run for the House and run for her spot in the Senate. Also would suggest Jay Inslee, but yes, another white male. But would be an excellent VP and President.
