By jove, some repugs are starting to get it.

By best friend for the past 30 years is, sadly, a repug. She is the most giving person I know and is so smart but she was raised by a Repug Mayor daddy, in a small GA town, and is 76. Sadly, previous to now, she was still in for drumpf, hadn't been able to overcome her conditioning. Yesterday we had lunch after agreeing not to hug or touch each other and of course we talked about this Covid-19. She, like me, was furious about the govt's (drumpfs') lying response and deliberately stopping us from getting tested when needed out of pure politics and no caring for the people. I was shocked in a very happy way, I knew she'd eventually start to get it, she's already turned on Scott (Voldemort). The worm is turning when this lifelong repug, 76 year old southern white woman, sours on drumpf - woohoo!!

She never voted for Scott in a race, but she didn't vote for the Democrat either, so at least her vote won't count for drumpf in Nov. That is an improvement. She really needs me and I can't push her away, especially with the loss of her husband and family members, she's my sister of the heart. Plus when I was so disabled last year, she really stood by me and helped me out in so many ways. She is a wonderful person, except for this one huge flaw IMO.

I will be subtly working on her, there is a chance she might support Biden?

I have a sister that I love who voted for Orange Ass. Only reason she ever told me was she thought he’d lower her taxes. She’s all about hating to pay taxes. I suspect that a lot of trump voters don’t like him but may vote for him again because either they don’t want immigrants or they are anti abortion or they think a Dem president will take their guns away.

"I like trump because he is helping us get rid of abortion." She also has no problem with kids in cages at the southern border. She would have a hissy fit if either of these two things impacted her family negatively. She was raised in the same home I was. I will never understand what happened to her.

Same situation with me. My sister is 2 years older than me and sometimes hints around that I am naive and don’t understand the “real world.”

For example some of her views...

Kids in cages - well they shouldn’t have come here in the first place
Abortion - I believe it’s wrong so it shouldn’t be allowed for anyone
Democrats - all they will do is raise our taxes and give free stuff to lazy people who feel entitled to it

I have heard this many times. I don’t get it either. How could we be raised in the same family?

Not intended as a personal slur, just that she is one of millions who have succumbed to the propaganda from the Mango Mussolini cult.

There are a thousand ways to illustrate the brainwashing, but here's one about abortion.

For two years, from January 2017 when Mango Mussolini was "inaugurated", until January of 2019, when the Democrats took back the House, the right wing wackos controlled ALL of the government: the House, the Senate, the White House and the Supreme Court. During those two years, they could have reversed Roe v. Wade, and did nothing. That clearly illustrates that they are NOT "helping us get rid of abortion".

Until Justice Kennedy retired and was replaced by Boof, the Court was 4-4 + one swing vote. The Court, which is the only entity which can overturn Roe v. Wade, is now a solid 5-4 anti-choicers, and you can bet your bottom dollar they’re chomping at the bit for an opportunity to overturn Roe. And, they will. You can take that to the bank.

Its because they've cut themselves off from anyone remotely like a trump voter, so therefore they ALL must be racists, nazis, etc. I know people like your friend. I know them well. I know they are not racists. I also know that a few are disillusioned with trump now. Will they vote for Biden? I dont know. I DO know they wouldnt vote for Sanders. But i also believe a couple will simply not cast a vote for president. And trump cant win with that happening. He wont get ANY Hillary voters. He WILL lose some of the Obama/trump voters. He WILL lose older trump voters who have passed away. He WONT gain enough younger 1st time voters to offset that loss.
All that adds up to a tough road for trump

perfidy
—noun, plural per·fi·dies.

1. deliberate breach of faith or trust; faithlessness; treachery: perfidy that goes unpunished.

2.an act or instance of faithlessness or treachery

Origin: 1585–95; < Latin perfidia faithlessness, equivalent to perfid(us) faithless, literally, through (i.e., beyond the limits of) faith (per- per- + fid(ēs) faith + -us adj. suffix) + -ia -y3

I had a co-worker like that at the time - hated Bush and would answer the phone throughout the summer and into the fall of 2004 by telling everybody to Vote for Kerry (this was a financial services/insurance company) - however, the day after the election he confessed he still voted Bush because he had become so scared of Kerry that he felt he had to vote Bush.
