NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Saturday announced the state's first coronavirus death, an 82-year-old woman who passed away at a New York City hospital after being admitted on March 3.

She reportedly had an underlying respiratory illness, emphysema, for which she was previously hospitalized.

Cuomo also announced an additional 100 cases, bringing the total in the state to 524.

New York has the most cases of any state across the country, with hot spots in Manhattan and Westchester County, but officials are working to contain the spread of the virus through more testing.

I’m out near the checkpoint drive-thru testing site in New Rochelle. It’s really surreal. Truly something out of a movie. State Troopers wearing face masks are at the checkpoint as cars approach, through a loud speaker, they ask them if they’re here to be tested.

My guess is the vast majority that are young and reasonably healthy become infected, never know or have such mild symptoms they never need care and infect multiple elderly. The lady that died in Colorado yesterday was also 80 plus with underlying disease. My guess is most 80 plus have some age related underlying disease.
