I'm thinking of just cutting it out altogether. Can't trust that someone isn't using gloves when preparing food. It was never anything I thought about until now.
Am I getting paranoid?

(8,054 posts)deep fried is the way to go right now, as long as whoever boxes it up isn't sick. Also soups, can be superheated at home with no loss of quality. Sandwiches/burritos/tacos with cold ingredients or ingredients that sit in bins all day--you're asking for it. I would just pick up my food through drive thru tho.

(29,205 posts)and the packaging that is handled by workers or drivers.
here is what I have decided to do.
When food is delivered... I have the delivery person leave it at the door... they have been paid and tipped online already. I then use my lysol hand wipe and wipe the packaging.
Now I am only at risk from the person who took the cooked food and placed in the package.
If possible I take the package (now sterile) and pop in the microwave for reheating ( which I would normally do anyway)... and I hope that all of the process has killed off any virus on the food or on the packaging.
Might work... might not... We aren't going to ever be perfect unless we have a missile silo stocked with at least a years worth of MREs anyway.
So it's a risk... but a much reduced risk from what the general public is undertaking.
BTW, sadly this means no salads or uncooked fruit or veggies. oh well.

(3,050 posts)All deliveries have the food preparers and drivers temp check written on the receipt. Who accepts the package has their temp recorded too.

(13,360 posts)That's why I would only reccomend places where you might feel you "know" better? Like a regular coffee shop/diner you frequent as opposed to just some fast food joint.
I live in a very small town but I would still trust a place like the local deli to Subway just cuz they are people I have known for years. I will also use the pizza place down the street that I know the staff for years instead of dominoes...
But that's just me. AND I am leaning more toward saving $$ and preparing food at home anyway. Making burgers with home fries for a late lunch Just me & my 17 yr old son anyway, we're pretty chill. He homeschools and I do a lot of freelancing from home anyway...
