Anyone have an idea of what this virus is doing to the housing market/home prices? (Original Post) brush Mar 2020 OP

It can't help short-term. Interest rates are still low, which will help at some point. Hoyt Mar 2020 #3

I do not have any hard evidence, but we are selling 2 estates and interest in these estates is low,,, My feeling,,as I tell Mrs K, there is a panic to buy food and necessities right now.. estates and homes are way down the list, which will affect prices. Just what I am seeing day to day.

I’d bet lenders are being careful, and people aren’t looking as hard as usual.

But who knows, people still working but stuck in apartments, might get cabin fever and need a bigger place.

Going in and out the patio door so WE ARE the only ones touching door handle. My wife has a stroke disability and so is fine staying in in the master bedroom suite most of the time anyway.

For my cabin fever there are near by parks and a nice trail along a nearby large creek. Or just getting the dog out in our nice complex that has a little lake to walk around too. Getting by the mailbox on foot. And our patio can give a nice brief respite too. There's always the possibility of a short drive to a couple urban state parks, or one of the US's largest county parks.

We already discussed that on some coming days with temps in the sixties we could go by a subshop and get carry out to one of the parks and a picnic table.

I think with time everyone can start coming up with simple plans and activities they can do more often.

Hoping it happens as scheduled.

Zillow home prices seem unaffected...yet.

Last week I had a realtor knock on my door saying she has someone interested in my house and offered a LOT of money.

I'm hoping it tanks the flippers, AirBnBs, etc that have been taking homes out of the market for working folks.
