was being impeached?
What populations are most at risk in this pandemic? People living in hi-density areas. Places where multi-culturalism blooms. Places where education and science and manufacturing thrive?
These are the Democratic Party strong holds, but also the most likely exposed to the contagion due to the greater human interactions.
Trump (and the Republican Party) has to win the next election or he will be tried on a multiple of legitimate charges, none more vile as actual treason against the US of A. His family, too.
So maybe he off's the emergency pandemic response team to make sure we aren't prepared for such a viral outbreak. Then lie, obfuscate, distract, and bullshit the next few months.
Now he gets to declare a national emergency and soon, martial law. Then delay the elections while the cities populations die-off and he finally wins the popular vote.

(15,351 posts)Unfortunately, the screed has become official Retrumplican policy.
I'd like to see Dumbfuckistan Murika shitholes survive without the economic power of our beautiful cities.
Who's going to buy all that Texas oil? Toothless hayseeds from Dumbfuckistan Murika?
You could be right though. It's exactly the type of evil, ignorant shortsighted thinking that dominates the Retrumplican Party.

(13,873 posts)This is the most absurd and ridiculous conspiracy theory I have ever seen on DU.
You think Trump and dozens or hundreds of other people actively planned to commit the mass murder of thousands of Americans and cripple our economy?
This is Alex Jones-level insanity.

(24,610 posts)Sure it sounds crazy, nutz, even! But, then, we've never had an impeached President still running our government.

(18,770 posts)So who was running the government after Andrew Johnson's and Bill Clinton's impeachments?

(24,610 posts)Can't argue that point.
But I'd rather you deconstruct my original argument and offer/explains a counter argument that explains this administration's actions over the least 2 years.

(18,770 posts)two years ago to know that a pandemic would appear at the same time as his impeachment. If he did not have knowledge of the future, firing the emergency response team hoping there would be an emergency in their field of expertise at the precise moment he needed it was leaving a lot to chance.
As for the short term incompetence, I believe if the choice between attributing an action (or inaction) to maliciousness or stupidity, I will most often choose the latter.
As for the national emergency leading to martial law- this is now the 33rd active national emergency in effect. He has no greater ability to declare martial law today than he did three days ago.
The idea of a plan to have the population of cities die off to change the political ratio in the country is not worth wasting time disputing, it is ridiculous.

(24,610 posts)Maybe, firing the emergency response team was a happy coincidence for Trump's incompetence. And I guess we have Bolton to blame. Not sure I understand why Bolton would be concerned with our national health security, given his focus has always been consumed with exterior threats. Hope to learn more about why he wanted to eliminate the national pandemic response team.
But my point remains. Cities and urban areas will see the brunt of the pandemic. And that affects Democrats in far greater numbers than Republicans. Delaying response ensures more Democratic deaths and chaos in the city/urban areas.

(18,770 posts)will the greater numbers of Democrats affected in urban areas be offset by the higher risk to Republicans who have an older median demographic?

(50,562 posts)Trump got rid of the pandemic team in 2018. He thought the money it cost would be better spent on his wall.
No, OAITW, there's a simpler explanation for the quality of this administration's work during the pandemic: they simply do not know what the hell they are doing, and this is a situation where incompetence is killing people.
OAITW r.2.0
(24,610 posts)That certainly fits Trump....but does that fit the people that are really running the government? I am pretty sure that Trump doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to those that are setting the plan. As long as they are working for his interests.

(24,610 posts)So the really devious pricks that don't care about the US Constitution are busy planning our demise as a political democracy to insure Agent Orange's re-election?
