The home healthcare industry; A ticking time bomb ready to go off.

There are hundreds of thousands of home healthcare workers in America. They travel from home to home taking care of the disabled and senior citizens. Many of these people require 24hr care. They are in and out of hospitals because they have severe health issues. Are they being tested?

Many of the workers are severely under paid. They work 60 to 70 hrs per week just to get by. Some of them get little or no sick time. Many of them do not have healthcare themselves. They get very little training. Management only cares about someone showing up at the homes and sometimes people do not show up forcing the staff to stay for another shift.

I am a home healthcare worker. This past Monday I pulled myself out of work, unpaid leave. Management has not said a word to the workers about the virus, no guidance.

Many of these workers are poor people in our biggest cities, get the picture.

a few emails a day regarding Covid 19 new policies.

We have to text our boss every day to tell her we have:

1. No fever
2. No new or worsening cough
3. No sore throat
4. No shortness of breath

Can't work if the answers are yes.

Also, before seeing every patient we have to call before and ask those 4 questions about everyone who lives in the home. If someone has symptoms we have to use PPE. We have very little PPE and are having trouble obtaining it so each week they give us all a little. So far I have not had a yes to those questions.

We do have some patients who don't want our staff visiting until this Covid crap calms down which is totally understandable.

I am sending you some big hugs Shocky80 I feel like you should report your agency to your state public health department.
