Italy's COVID death rate is now 8.3%, worldwide 4.1%.

Italy cases 35,713 (+4,207), deaths 2,978 (+475)
World 212,789 (+14,571), deaths (8,787) (+820)

The reason for the exponentially rising number of deaths is quite clear - regions running out of ICU beds with ventilators.

May be the average age in Italy is higher than others.

(ie need ventilators). Italy has 3,000 ventilators, the US 68,000 with up to another 100,000 older models in reserve.
