But shutting down the beaches might also be a good idea.

Of course, that task has been made more difficult by the order from Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) that all bars and restaurants in the state close down.

18-22 years are not mature enough nor think of their own mortality.

But if they get it and pass it on to Mom/ Dad/ Grandma and Grandpa and they die, they will feel the consequences of their actions.

Was still in college but made good money on my internships and enough delivering pizza when in school.

But, I was never the "frat boy" partying type. I have a neighbor who's in his late 30s and still thinks like that. He went up to the local Irish restaurant last night even....and has a 2 year-old at home.

I don't get it.

except for the polio outbreak in the 50s. One of the few things I can remember from grade school was the morbid fear parents and kids alike had over that one.

Yes, we faced rattle snakes, climbing through caves and driving cars too fast but those were mostly our choices....and as you suggest, some not too smart.

Me, in my drunken crazy days and traveling to boot just missed that one but I must never forget those that suffered. I was so grateful to hear it's finally mostly under control, as is polio.

I'll never forget the construction guys on our jobs talking about getting the clap and penicillin shots but I avoided that one too. Damn, that brings back some crazy memories.

I'm one of those. 61 in a couple of weeks.
Of course, that's 61 going on 21, but that's another story for another time.

I'm very disappointed by many in my age group. So many have swung to the hard right.
We were the next wave after the Hippies, and look at half of us now. 70's kids. We had the same cool and mojo as any generation of American youth. We invented yelling "FREEBIRD!!!" for crying out loud! LOL.

But seriously, we all came from politically heady times our entire lives, and there's no excuse for a lack of political awareness for anyone from my time. Some didn't take any lessons with them into the future. The collective GOP has always been a thief, and always will be. A lot of people were conned. Add to that those in yet older generations who still vote Republican reflexively. The GOP they think they are voting for doesn't really exist any longer. To be honest, there are older people ( 80/90 yo) in my universe who have seen the light. The old couple across the street have gone full on Democrat. They're old FDR Democrats who got washed away in the Reagan era. They're Back, Baby!

I often hear those who voted for Trump say that they were feeling "forgotten", and "left out".
Well, they were, by the very people they keep voting for -- The GOP. And, they handled the situation very badly
by seeing Trump as their savior.
A lot of people have been underpaid at their jobs for 40 or more years. Wages haven't risen, but we've all seen a relatively small group of Americans hit it big. People are pissed off, and rightfully so. The problem there is, some people just keep running to those with the boot on their neck in search of help.
