Boy, did anybody just see John Heilmann on Deadline: White House?

John’s been filling in for Nicole Wallace.

He just showed calendars of February and March. Each square is filled in with videos of Trump saying the Coronavirus was a Democratic hoax and a fraud and he had it all under control, until we get to the present “I knew this was a pandemic all along” and “I’m kind of like a wartime president.” You can clearly see the evolution of lies and bullshit.

God, would I love to see this turned into a campaign commercial.

if done now. We are in crisis and everyone needs to work together. It would be perceived as divisive and would feed right into the belief that Derms criticize Trump's handling of the crisis solely for political reasons and not for his genuine failings.

Trump's turnaround now is not, of course, a sincere recognition of the seriousness of the situation, or a real desire to help the American people. It is purely for image projection. He sees how the governors are outshining him in their performance and how seriously they are handling it. He does not want to be outdone by them.

The public sees his turnaround as a hopeful sign. He is spouting his usual BS con crap, but calling him on it now in political ads would look like a refusal of his cooperation. It would backfire on us.

Those exposure ads will have to wait until later. He is still playacting and projecting an image, and that will be clear soon enough.

Hey, maybe drums at Kerry rallies would have been good!

And speaking of "flip-flops" - lord knows we're seeing major ones this week with both IQ45 ("It's gonna' be gone in a week" - "I KNEW it was a pandemic" ), and, of course, his enablers in the RepubliCON(victs) party.

The Dems need help when it comes to campaigning etc. Unfortunately the Dems will most likely let Trump & the Republicans frame this pandemic and Trump will come out looking like the strong leader he can only wish he was. A little over half the population will believe his BS. The Dems need to jump on this and keep playing these clips, tweets, etc. where Trump was saying it was a hoax, that he got rid of the Pandemic Response Team, that he gutted the CDC, etc. People need to be told that Trump botched the response and that we most likely wouldn't have had to go through all this (Isolation, death, job loss, business closure, etc.)
