(34,491 posts)Days ago on the CDC interactive map, Texas was ahead of Louisiana at the time which had 1 confirmed case. Now they've gone past Texas two fold.

(4,670 posts)My large extended family is there. They are just now starting to think this might be more than a plot by the liberals, so they're holding hands and praying.

(5,339 posts)On Monday his blood pressure spiked to 215/120.... he went to an urgent care clinic who in turn advised him that he was in extreme danger of a stroke and to get his ass over to the hospital emergency room just as fast as his wife and car could take him.
So he went to West Jefferson Hospital where he encountered an emergency room PACKED with people with coughs and fears, and the doctors and nursing staff overwhelmed and in despair. TEN HOURS later, he says, he still hadn't been admitted, but then in desperation begged for a doctor, that his circumstance was not the same as all those other people. He got seen shortly thereafter.
Long story short.... he's at home now with headaches, but not critical, and convinced that there are many people in the New Orleans area who are infected and underreported in the numbers, and that there are even far more who are worried that they are.
As for myself, I'm keeping my ass indoors with my beloved dog. She's great company.
And I'm just thinking: THANK GOD for the internet. Imagine if this crap had happened in the 60's or 70's! If the virus didn't kill us then boredom surely would have.

(4,670 posts)My 96-year-old mother lives in Baton Rouge, in Sherwood Forest. I have a dozen relatives in Mandeville. They've taken my situation here in Massachusetts lightly, but they're about to find out that the bell is tolling for them.
