This is what a failed Presidency looks like.

If you fail to vote this election for any reason whatsoever ... fuck off and die with the rest of the assholes who put Trump in office.

Agree on the voting!

(15,805 posts)Is it really that important in the overall scheme of things to tag one particular ethnic group? Sure, he gets some "likes" from his bros in the white nationalist camp, but the larger general public condemns his blatant race baiting.
What does he gain by continuing to repeat that insulting trope? When when told that he was placing Americans of Asian descent at risk, Trump didn't care. He's a sick man.
distraction from his failures re Covid-19

(15,805 posts)Every time Trump launches into one of his hate filled attacks it just accumulates along with every other disgusting incident of division, blame and shaming.
He's not diverting anyone's attention from a single one of his failures. We are quite capable of multitasking when it comes to criticizing each and every one if Trump's unpresidential behaviors.

(11,744 posts)Trump is a racist. That is a sure thing. However, this isn't necessarily race baiting. It is stoking xenophobia. It is part of the same spectrum of thought and behavior. It is certainly creating an atmosphere of prejudice, bigotry, and racially motivated violence, but we need to call it what it is. Saying simply "racism" gives the slimy bastard the ability to argue and wiggle out on technicalities.
Trump is deliberately using xenophobic language to stoke animosity in order to distract from his DISMAL and DISGUSTING handling of the spread of COVID-19.
Unfortunately, the larger general public may not be reacting as strongly against this incitement as we might like. To be sure, it isn't resonating as much as Trump would like, but many people are still susceptible to fear based on creating a group of "others" to blame. Scapegoating is sadly effective, especially when we have a public that is largely not really paying attention to the particular narratives and there is racial animosity built into the society. We don't like the ugliness, but many of us are okay with the sentiment.

(11,744 posts)Like I said, Trump is a racist. He has clearly shown throughout his life that he is a racist. He believes that White people are superior and that Black people and Brown people are inferior. He holds racist stereotypes about Jewish people, Asian people, and others. Racist.
He is motivated by his own personal supremacy, and by White Supremacy, however he is also largely motivated by transactions that will benefit him.
What he is doing here is ultimately about shifting the blame away from himself. The selling point is that, "those sneaky, dirty, Chinese" are behind the virus. He is not necessarily being racist in and of himself in this instance, but he is certainly capitalizing on racial prejudice and animosity to vilify others, simply to keep himself from being blamed for his complete incompetence in handling this public health emergency.

(4,103 posts)because half of the country can't be bothered to vote, and that is what the real tragedy is here.
This was all easily preventable, but over 50 million registered voters had more important things to do than vote.

(4,103 posts)He's not even remotely close to being a leader, and never will be, he doesn't have what it takes, yet anytime he manages to read something off a teleprompter the idiots at CNN start pimping him as "Presidential"

(16,685 posts)Don't engage him on his terms. He wants you to attack him for being a racist (which we all know he is) because that diverts the argument away from his bungling of the crisis and actually helps him with his base
Say "whatever Trump wants to call this disease at least he's no longer lying about it being a hoax."
