If ever there was a time when we need to laugh, it is now,

And yet, it appears to me that the late night talk shows and the comics who host them have gone off the air for the lack of live audiences. Young people have reported that they get their news from The Daily Show. Satire is an important tool in a representative democracy, as it holds the powerful up to scrutiny for their actions, or inaction, as the case may be. Bill Maher, Steven Colbert, John Oliver, Trevor Noah and Samantha Bee are just a few examples of the people we need, and yet their voices appear to have been silenced.

have new monologues and short clips on YouTube.

They are all filming from their homes.

They skype guests like Julia Louis Dreyfus and Guillermo.

Their kids are doing the intros and graphics.

I have watched them all.

I wish all of them would have full shows from their homes.

My eighteen year old daughter is engaged and knowledgeable about current events and it is almost entirely to do with the Daily Show.

They need the live audience. Stephen Colbert did a show with no audience, it was weird. John Oliver did a show with no audience. It was weird. So I can see why the rest of them wouldn't want to do that. You need that audience reaction.

I watched both shows. Colbert had an audience of his staffers. The writers and production people need to be safe, too. The musicians also need to be kept safe.
